Rennselaerville Kiosk Koncert and Annual Founder’s Day Celebration

kioskYesterday we got the chance to help out some friends at the Rennselaerville Historic District Association.  They raised a good amount of money to build an information kiosk at the pocket park in town. Meanwhile, it was an awesome day with some amazing music, a pig roast and pot luck dinner. beer from Helderberg Brewery and some pretty epic weather.  It threatened to rain for a minute but we only saw a few drops before it cleared up, although the winds did some damage to an E-Z Up.

There was some great musicians laying down tunes all afternoon.  The Fearless Fretters set up shop and treated us to their full stringed glory with violins, guitars, banjo and double bass.  Peter Michael played some acoustic jams. John Rice brought his A game,  The Barefoot Ladies put on a great show utilizing their precise three part harmonies on their tunes and some unique covers.  We played right after the faux rain storm for what IMHO was an epic set including some of our best performances of our new tunes.  The Outer Strings followed with an impressive set featuring killer guitar, violin accompaniment and an amazing line up of vocalists.

The food was fantastic, the beer was heady, but the best part of the day was the people.  Rennselaerville came out in full force to enjoy the weather, mingle with neighbors and be the amazing community that they are.  Here’s some pics and a short video of The Outer Strings. We’ll be back in town on June 22nd and 23rd for a Garden Concert and Workshop.

Funk ‘n Waffles Downtown in Syracuse

funkwaffdowntown

We’re headed out to Syracuse tonight (Sat. 2/4) for an exciting show at Funk ‘n Waffles Downtown.  We’ll be playing support for one of the North East’s biggest acts, Flux Capacitor.

Flux Capacitor is a rising star on the national music scene who pack their performances with high energy musical prowess. Their sets are overflowing with prophetic vocals, complex guitar work, innovative synth/bass stylings and feverishly syncopated drum rhythms.

This will be our second time at Funk ‘n Waffles Downtown and we couldn’t be more stoked to return.  Last time we were blown away by how awesome their venue is.  The stage is amazing with killer sound and mind blowing lights.  Not only does the room look and sound amazing but they serve up delicious waffles of every variety.  It’s probably the best place ever.  $10 at the door for 21+ and $15 for 18+.  Doors open at 8:30 and show starts at 9:30.  Don’t miss it!

Happy New Year!

It’s 2017 and BMS has some killer shows lined up, as well as some awesome irons in the fire.  We’re filling out the spring calendar with tons of dates at great venues all around the north east.  It’s also that time when we start locking down festival dates and we have a lot of cool stuff in the works so keep an eye on our calendar to start making summertime plans.

On January 21st we’ll be returning to a new hometown favorite, Savoy Taproom on Lark St. in Albany.  Savoy has taken the old Justin’s location and created a sauve spot to wine and dine on Lark St.  The food is delectable and the drinks are amazing.  Carl Daniels will start out the night with an acoustic performance at the bar and then Factory Radio will play before we close out the night.  It’s going to be an awesome night of music at a great venue in the heart of Albany, if you’re in the area don’t miss out.savoy

Fall Festivals and Fun Times

We’ve had a busy September playing some amazing events across the Northeast.  All that travelling, rocking out and more travelling left us with a neglected blog and it’s time to try to correct that with one massive September post.

Saratoga Winery was our first stop this month and a kick off for Labor Day weekend.  It was a beautiful evening and we set up on the patio.  As the sun went down we had everyone vibing.  The fire was blazing, people were playing corn hole and we even had some toddlers dancing along on the deck.  We had a blast playing for everyone while the waitstaff skillfully maneuvered through the party with fancy wine trees.  On Saturday we headed out to Utica NY for our first time at Lukin’s Brick Oven Pizza.  It was a quiet night but a great room and we got a warm response from the people who made it out.  We’re hoping to come back on a busier night and we made some new friends and fans nonetheless.  Sunday we headed up to Lake George for King Neptune‘s Labor Jam.  We opened up for some amazing acts like Formula 5 and The Garcia Project.

The second weekend of September was spent in New England.  Saturday night we played in Cambridge Mass. at TOAD.  It was a cozy room but the close quarters didn’t scare anybody off.  The opening act was the amazingly talented Pat McCann. We had a blast and got a great response from everybody.  Sunday we rode on to Providence RI for Rhode Island Seafood Festival.  There were some threatening clouds on our way in but they quickly passed and we had a beautiful late-summer afternoon filled with lobster roll, clam shooters and great tunes along the waterfront.

At this point September was vibrating with fevered excitement, foaming at the mouth with momentum and energy.  Anyone that got in the way was rocked hard and left dancing uncontrollably.  As we rolled into the last weekend we were riding high.  Friday the 23rd we journeyed out to Hector NY on beautiful Seneca Lake.  Hector is like home for us with so many friends and fans.  It was a great evening under the tent at Hazlitt Winery drinking Schooner Red and Gewurztraminer.  Saturday was Lark Fest in Albany and we had the opportunity to rock out an aftershow at Savoy Taproom on Lark Street.  It was an awesome night, our Albany family showed up in droves and we had the room bouncing.  It was great to see everyone and a pleasure to play the cool new room they have set up in the old Justin’s.  Sunday we headed out to Lenox Mass. for Apple Squeeze.   Downtown Lenox is a gem set in rural New England.  The streets were closed off and filled with local vendors selling food, wine and anything apple.  The cider flowed and we gorged on local delicacies.

There are tons of amazing photographs from all of these events, we promise.  However our IT Department has been experiencing some technical setbacks and our busy schedule has thrown a kink our social media flow.  But stay tuned, they’re coming soon!

Freedom Park Concert Series Finale

We know everyone’s talking about the shows coming up this weekend (don’t worry we’ll have an update for you next week!) but we have to tell you about how epic last Saturday evening was.

0827161933 0827162001b

The Freedom Park Concert Series is an amazing community event that went on every Saturday this summer at Freedom Park, next to Jumping Jack’s, in Scotia NY.  We had the pleasure of playing their final show of the season last Saturday evening and it was absolutely amazing.  The breath taking venue features an amphitheater along the banks of the Mohawk River in Scotia.  The people putting on the event were so incredibly warm and welcoming, not to mention professional, that it’s no wonder the series has been such a success.

Which brings us to the awesome crowd full of happy, dancing people of all ages.  The seats were packed and the dance floor was hopping throughout the whole set.  We’ve had some good audiences before, but this was out of control.  As we went into one of our Irish folk tunes entitled “Spanish Lady” a woman in a beautiful, full length, colorful Spanish dress came and danced as we played.  Then after we finished with our version of “Raglan Road” we said good night just as fireworks erupted across the river.

It’s great to play to such a receptive audience.  We were approached by so many people, from families with toddlers to elderly couples enjoying the sunset, who wanted to tell us how touched they were by our music. We felt like celebrities as we ventured over to Jumping Jack’s for ice cream and we’re met with compliments and questions from all the people outside.

This was such an incredible experience and we can’t wait to come back next year!
